Natural Wool Carpet
All of ActiveCat's Eco-Friendly cat scratching posts feature 100% wool carpet with natural jute backing.  For the ultimate comfort and durability, the wool carpet that we use in our eco-friendly posts is a deep pile texture.  It is a half inch thick, and because there are no loops, it won't snag.  Currently, we offer wool carpet in Wheat color, which is a light summer blonde shade of wheat that blends nicely with the wood for a stylish monochromatic effect.

Eco-Friendly Solid Doug Fir
Considered the most environmentally "green" softwood because of its rapid growth, natural stands, long rotations, and responsible harvesting and replanting.  All ActiveCat scratching posts feature solid Douglas Fir softwood.  Our Eco-Friendly cat scratching posts additionally use Doug Fir to trim the platforms and base.  All of our Doug Fir wood is purchased locally from mills who participate in FSC certified harvesting.

Soy-Based Stains
All of ActiveCat's Eco-Friendly cat scratching posts can optionally be finished with natural soy-based finishes in Cherry and Ebony.  The stain is Eco-Friendly and applied to the trim wood only.  Due to the long drying time of soy-based products, there is an additional delivery time requirement of 4 days to ensure proper application.  There is also an additional charge for the soy-based application.  If you select the Natural Unfinished trim, your post will be completed with natural Doug Fir in a sanded finish.

Organic Catnip
All of our cat scratching posts include a sample of our fresh and natural Organic Catnip.  Your cat will love this special treat, grown locally in the Pacific Northwest.  Additional packages can be purchased separately in our Toys and Treats section.

Non-toxic Eco-Friendly Cat Toys
Each Eco-Friendly cat scratching posts has one to two attached Eco-Friendly cat toy.  The toys are made from natural hemp rope and solid wood that has been finished with natural soy-based stains.  Additional Eco-Firendly cat toys can be found in our Toys and Treats section and feature solid wood, milk paint, soy-based stains, and hemp twine.   Our Eco-Friendly cat toys are non-toxic and made in America.  We manufacture all of our products, including our cat toys in our facility outside of Portland, Oregon to ensure everything is made to our stringent standards.

Custom Options
Have a special request?  We are happy to work with you to provide an Eco-Friendly scratching post that best meets your needs.  For instance, you can request our synthetic recyclable carpet in place of the wool, or other materials that you prefer.  Some upgrades and custom selections will incur additional expense.  Contact our Customer Service department for additional information.
